The number of felons caught with guns in Topeka has now reached a baker’s dozen in a little more than a month.

Police were called just after 1:30 a.m. Monday to the 200 block of SE Lawrence after people saw a suspicious vehicle with two people in it that didn’t belong there.

Twenty-nine-year-old Frank E. Houston was sleeping in the car with a handgun on his lap. He lied to the police about who he was and then tried to run.

Houston was arrested for Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Marijuana, possession of Paraphernalia, Interference with a Law Enforcement Officer and Traffic of Contraband into a Penal Institution.
