580 Sports Talk’s Football Picks, Presented by Prairie Band Sportsbook – Weekend of Sept. 7-8, 2024
The football season is upon us, and we’re bringing back our 580 Sports Talk football picks contest! Each week, Dan, Brendan, and Spencer will pick two NFL games and two college football games against the spread, and also make a fifth ‘wild card’ pick that could be a spread, total, or player prop from the college or professional slate of games. They’ll also designate one pick each week as their ‘Lock of the Week’. We’ll track their records throughout the season and crown a champion.
In the first week of picks, both Brendan and Spencer went 2-1 while Dan went 1-2. Brendan was the only one to hit on his Lock of the Week pick.
The 580 Sports Talk Football Picks Contest is sponsored by Prairie Band Sportsbook – Bet Your Way! Click HERE to join their free NFL Survivor pool before the Monday night game kicks off on September 9 for your chance to win up to $25,000!

Dan Lucero
CFB: Kansas -4.5 at Illinois
CFB: Appalachian State +17 at Clemson
NFL: Cardinals at Bills -6.5
NFL: Broncos at Seahawks -6
*LOCK OF THE WEEK*
“Bo Nix’s first NFL start is on the road in a hostile environment against a Mike McDonald defense. That’d be tough for any rookie QB, even one I thought more highly of than I do Nix. Add what I expect to be a potent Seahawks offense and a porous Denver defense into the mix, and I don’t think I’m being a homer, or a hater, when I say this has wipeout potential. I’ll lay less than a touchdown, no problem.” — DL
WC: Cardinals at Bills OVER 47 points
Season record: 1-2 (Lock of the Week 0-1)
Brendan Dzwierzynski
CFB: Kansas -4.5 at Illinois
CFB: Colorado at Nebraska -7
NFL: Texans at Colts +2.5
NFL: Eagles vs Packers +2
*LOCK OF THE WEEK*
“Is this a homer pick? Sure. But given the circumstances for the two teams, I’m surprised the Packers are underdogs. Philadelphia is replacing two coordinators and hasn’t been good versus play action, meanwhile Green Bay’s offense may be the best in the NFL.” — BD
WC: Vikings at Giants UNDER 41 points
Season record: 2-1 (Lock of the Week 1-0)
Spencer Dupuis
CFB: Marshall +20.5 at Virginia Tech
CFB: Boise State +19 at Oregon
NFL: Patriots at Bengals -8
*LOCK OF THE WEEK*
“The Patriots are rebuilding, and will not be able to compete with the Bengals even if Ja’Marr Chase doesn’t play.” — SD
NFL: Commanders +3.5 at Buccaneers
WC: Jayden Daniels (WAS) OVER 1.5 passing touchdowns
Season record: 2-1 (Lock of the Week 0-1)
