Area Retailer Raises Money for Breast Cancer Research

Dillard’s stores across America are working together to make a difference, as they contribute to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and today, the Topeka location, inside the West Ridge Mall, is hosting their “Fit for the Cure” event.

“Today is our “Fit for the Cure” event, which is essentially a bra-fit event to help fight breast cancer,” said Dillard’s Sales Representative Crystal Carson.  “For every bra-fitting that we do today, our bra vendor, Wacoal, is donating $2.00 in the customer’s name to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, as well as an additional $2.00 for every bra purchased today.”

Customers can come in until 9 p.m tonight to meet with one of six certified fitters.

“We have the Wacoal representative here today and six certified fitters on the floor right now taking care of everybody who is coming in,” said Carson.  “We’re accepting walk-ins until close. Or, they can certainly call and make an appointment if they would rather do that.”

There is no obligation to buy once you have been fitted.

“When you come into the lingerie department, we will take you into a fitting room,” said Carson. “Then, we do a simple process to find your correct size using a “FIT” bra, which is a tool that we use to know which styles of bras are going to fit best for you. But, there is no obligation to buy. The donation is still going to be made, whether you purchase anything or not.”

During Dillard’s stores’ partnership with Wacoal, they have fitted 335,000 women, held over 8000 events, and donated $1.8 million to Susan G. Komen on behalf of Dillard’s customers.

Customers can schedule appointments at 785-273-5451 or visit Dillard’s anytime until 9 p.m. tonight for fittings.
