AUDIO: Washburn Baseball and Softball Coaches Show

The MIAA regular season is in full swing but Mother Nature continues to make schedules changes for both the Ichabod baseball and softball teams.

The Washburn softball team is hoping to play their first games on their own diamond coming up this weekend on the 30th and 31st.

The Ichabods are currently 5-1 in MIAA play and are taking on Missouri Southern and Pittsburg State this weekend.

Washburn swept Lincoln and Lindenwood to start MIAA play and then split with Emporia State.

The Ichabods have split their last two non-conference doubleheaders, with wins against Upper Iowa and Concordia and losses to Wayne State and St. Cloud.

Brenda Holaday is still hoping for more consistency out of her squad but likes that their record is 5-1 in conference play. She knows this weekend is a big four games that could really give this team some confidence if they play well.

The baseball team currently sits at 12-13 overall and 6-9 in conference play but the Ichabods could very well flip those conference numbers. Washburn took a two game series against Missouri Western and then lost the rubber match to the Mules of UCM.

Washburn is coming off a win against Baker on Tuesday and looks to get back on track with a three game series against Northwest Missouri State on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Harley Douglas says this team is very close to clicking on all cylinders.
