Charges being considered in July jail attack

Charges are being considered against an inmate who attacked a Corrections Specialist in Shawnee County while in custody for a break-in and assault at WIBW-TV in Topeka.

Fifty-five-year-old Ray Anthony Miles attacked Kourtney Flinn July 31st.

At approximately 3:15 p.m. that day, Flynn was working on distributing a cordless phone for inmates to use while on lock down.

When she requested inmate Miles return the phone to be passed to another inmate, he violently attacked her and continued the attack until other officers arrived in the module and intervened.

Officer Flynn was transported to the hospital where she was treated for multiple injuries to her face and head and then released. Flynn remains on leave until she has fully recovered.

Miles was due to be released on the charge related to the TV station in November.
