Details Released in Crash That Killed Four Children Thanksgiving Morning in Kansas

Details have been released on the Thanksgiving morning accident that claimed the lives of four children in Republic County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that 38-year-old Jennifer Dawn Lovelace of Tularosa, New Mexico was driving a 1994 Toyota on 30th Road just north of U.S. 36 about eight and a half miles north of Courtland, when she lost control and left the west side of the roadway. The Toyota rolled and came to rest on its top submerged in a pond facing to the northwest.

Lovelace was seriously injured and taken to Republic County Hospital. 38-year-old Paul E. Bannister of Alamogordo, New Mexico was also taken to the hospital.

Killed in the accident were 12-year-old Ronald T.S. Hyde, 9-year-old Travis Hyde, 4-year-old Aidan M.L. Lovelace and 9-month-old Axton H. Beck.

The Patrol’s report says the driver and the two youngest boys were buckled when they were found, while the male passenger and the two oldest were not buckled when they were found.
