“Disney on Ice Presents Frozen” is coming to Topeka tomorrow night

The Academy Award® winning and number one animated feature film of all time, Disney’s “Frozen”, is coming to Topeka, as “Disney On Ice presents Frozen” begins this Thursday night and goes through Sunday evening for seven performances at the Kansas Expocentre.

The complete adventure of the Academy Award® winning tale will be told live in this production, capturing the dynamic story of two royal sisters, Anna and Elsa. Anna, a girl with an extraordinary heart, embarks on an epic journey to find her sister, the magical Elsa, who is determined to remain secluded as she finally feels free to test the limits of her powers.

“The movie is about Anna and Elsa and their sisterhood and how they have to go through certain things in life and how, in the end, love conquers all,” said Johan Fredriksson, one of the cast members of “Disney on Ice Presents Frozen”.

Unlike the film, however, the “Disney on Ice” production features a number of iconic characters to tell the story.

“You’ll be able to see so many of your favorite characters, such as Cinderella, Snow White, Rapunzel, Buzz and Woody, Timon and Pumbaa, and even Mickey and Minnie.  So, there’s really something for everyone here.” said Callista Vojvodich, who is a member of the “Disney on Ice Presents Frozen” cast.

To create a completely immersive experience for the audience, the set design will encompass the space from the ice surface up through the air, drawing everyone into the story and closer to the characters.

“So, on the stage here for “Disney on Ice Presents Frozen”, we have some special effects,” said Fredriksson. “They really do help communicate the story.  They draw everyone in. My favorite special effect is our snow machines and they, obviously, help produce the snow to create a winter effect and (they) help the audience feel like they are a part of the story.”

In addition to seeing the special effects and the classic Disney characters, the audience will, also, have an opportunity to sing along to some of their favorite “Frozen” songs, such as “Let it Go,” “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” and “Fixer Upper.”

“It’s so amazing to hear all of the kids singing along,” said Fredriksson. “Obviously, ‘Let it Go’ is a crowd pleaser. It gives me goosebumps every single time.”
