Equifest of Kansas this weekend is a great place to learn about horses

The annual Equifest of Kansas is coming to Topeka this weekend.

For three days, February 22, 23 and 24, we take over the entire campus of Kansas Expocentre and the Maner Conference Center, the hotel side,” said Justine Staten with Equifest. “We host workshops and we have arena displays with top-notch clinicians and demonstrations. We have ten different breeds on display to learn about. We have wall-to-wall shopping. There is something for everyone.”

If you don’t know anything about horses, but you’re curious and want to learn, Equifest is for you, too.

“We try to do education in an entertaining fashion,” said Staten. “You can stop and visit with any vendor or any clinician or any workshop speaker. Ask them questions. Pick up some different tack and say what is this and they’ll surely tell you all about it.”

If you just want to see some fine horses, they will be there.

“Those folks will have some beautiful hospitality booths set up with educational information,” said Staten. “They’re more than happy to let you pet their horses and learn about them. It’s going to be a great time.”

You can go online to find a full schedule of activities and order tickets through Thursday. You can also pick up tickets at the box office on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Children 12 and under are free. For adult prices, go to equifestofks.com/tickets.
