Explosion at Walmart ‘not designed’ for damage or injury, fire department says

What is believed to be a homemade firework exploded at Walmart on Wanamaker Road in Topeka Monday morning.
According to Fire Marshal Mike Martin, just before 10 a.m. a small explosion occurred at the Walmart. Witnesses stated that an unknown individual was seen throwing an object out of their vehicle shortly before the explosion occurred. Topeka Police Officers responded to the scene and requested a Fire Investigator.
