Fatal crash Monday afternoon at intersection of 21st and Washington

At approximately 3:03 p.m. Monday, June 17, officers from the Topeka Police Department responded to reports of a two-vehicle injury crash in the intersection of SE 21st St. and SE Washington St.

Upon arrival, officers located the driver of the vehicle and the passenger of the same vehicle suffering from life-threatening injuries.  Both the driver and passenger were transported to a local hospital by American Medical Response.  The driver of the vehicle succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.  The passenger of the vehicle remains in critical condition.

The driver was the only occupant of the second vehicle and was not injured in the crash.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.  The deceased will not be identified until proper next of kin notifications are made.
