Fatal Train-Pedestrian accident Tuesday near Forbes Field

A person hit by an Amtrak train near Forbes Field has died.
According to a release from the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 6:30 Tuesday morning to a train vs. pedestrian accident in the 5700 block of South Topeka Boulevard.
The train was northbound when the person tried to cross the track about 100 feet south of 57th and Topeka Boulevard.
The name of the victim has not been released pending family notification. Please avoid the area while the investigation continues.
