A fire at a home on SW 30th Street claimed the life of a dog on Sunday.

Firefighters found the split-level single family wood frame residential structure fully involved with fire when they got there just after 5:00 a.m. Firefighters were able to keep the fire to the house of origin. No people were home, but they did find the dog dead.

The cause of the fire is undetermined. Damages are estimated at $130,000. No working smoke detectors were in the house.
