The Kansas City Royals could be under new ownership for the 2020 season.

Royals owner David Glass is in talks to sell the team according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal and Jayson Stark.

Glass is said to be in discussion with John Sherman, a Kansas City native, who is currently a minority owner of the Cleveland Indians.

Jeff Passan of ESPN has said the sale price would be more the one billion dollars but the more interesting thing is he says the deal is to be finalized.

Glass bought the team in April of 2000 for 96 million dollars and if he sells it for more then one billion he would make roughly a billion dollars in the sale.

Sherman graduated from Missouri and has started multiple businesses and joined the Indians ownership group in 2016.

The Kansas City Royals released  the following statement after the reports.

“The Kansas City Royals are not in a position to make any comments on the published speculation regarding any potential sale of the ball club.  The Royals will make no further statements at this time.”
