Governor Signs Bills Into Law

A stack of new laws passed by the Legislature have been signed by Governor Laura Kelly.

One of the new laws provides liability protection for businesses, municipalities, and educational institutions participating in high school work-based learning programs.

The bill creates some civil liability protections for businesses and students if a student is injured while participating in a high school work-based learning program.

Another new law creates a kids lifetime combination hunting and fishing license.

For a child five and younger, the cost is $300; for ages six and seven, the cost is $500.

Also signed was authorization for more new distinctive license plates denoting Silver Star medal, Bronze Star medal, City of Hutchinson, and Daughters of the American Revolution, and four different license plates for the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks.

It also authorizes the printing of the international symbol of access for disabled veteran license plates.
