Highway striping starts Tuesday in Douglas, Jefferson counties

The Kansas Department of Transportation will begin striping work on three sections of highways in Douglas and Jefferson counties on Tuesday, July 9, weather permitting.

The three sections are –

U.S. 24 in Douglas County from the Jefferson County line 6.6 miles to just south of Teepee junction;

U.S. 24 in Jefferson County from the U.S. 24/U.S. 59 junction east 4.4 miles to the Douglas County line;

U.S. 59 in Jefferson County from the U.S. 59/U.S. 24 junction north 25 miles to the K-4 junction.

The work will take place in two-mile stretches at a time with traffic following a pilot car through the work area. Motorists should expect delays of up to 10 minutes and add extra time in their travel schedules.

Striping will be underway Monday to Friday from 30 minutes after sunrise to 30 minutes before sunset. The work is expected to be completed in about two weeks. Century Fence of Pewaukee, Wis., is the contractor the three projects at a cost of $380,000.
