The exit from westbound I-470 to westbound I-70 in Topeka will be closed to traffic from 7 p.m. on Friday, July 12, to 6 a.m. on Monday, July 15, weather permitting, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.
The closure is necessary for bridge repair work and an asphalt overlay on the deck. Westbound I-470 motorists traveling to westbound I-70 should follow the signed detour and take I-70 eastbound to Wanamaker Road, exit and return on westbound I-70.
Bettis Asphalt and Construction of Topeka is the contractor on the $123,000 project. This work was previously planned to take place in June but had to be rescheduled.
