Kansas Expocentre Facility to be renamed Stormont Vail Events Center

Spectra, the venue management company of the Kansas Expocentre in Topeka, Kansas, has signed a ten-year partnership agreement with Topeka-based Stormont Vail Health, in which the arena will be renamed Stormont Vail Events Center.

The agreement, approved by the Shawnee County Commissioners, includes major exterior and interior signage, a Mothers Room, and brand recognition in all advertising for the facility. The arena’s website domain changed today to reflect the arena’s new name www.StormontVailEventsCenter.com. Temporary signage will be installed to reflect the name change of the facility immediately and will be updated with permanent signage cooperatively with the renovation project.

Spectra identified and negotiated the naming rights contract with Stormont Vail Health.

Stormont Vail has a long history in Topeka and a devotion to improving the health of the communities it serves. This partnership is an investment in the health and wellness of the community, both physically and economically.

“Our mission to improve the health of our community goes far beyond physical health,” stated Robert Kenagy, M.D., President and Chief Executive Officer for Stormont Vail Health. “Investing in our city and fostering local partnerships around improving the community’s overall health is vital. Both of our organizations have a long history in Topeka and we are looking forward to all the positive momentum partnering with Spectra will bring.”

General Manager of the Kansas Expocentre for Spectra, Kellen Seitz, stated, “Our management efforts to promote a positive and patron centric environment for our venue align perfectly with Stormont Vail Health. We couldn’t think of a better partner to advance and engage in community efforts than a true Topeka born and bred company. This naming rights partnership will continue to advance the venue forward in our industry and we are so proud to be aligned with such a great community leader in Stormont Vail Health.”

The change in name is the latest highlight in a long list of transformations and local partnerships attributed to Spectra’s work at the facility since Shawnee County awarded the venue management contract to Spectra in September 2017. In addition to increasing concert bookings and family shows, Spectra has grown the inaugural Wing Fling restaurant competition to a sell-out status, and plans to host another in-house promoted event at the end of June 2019. While some partnerships are geared to lower the subsidy necessary to operate the facility, many are aimed toward a continued effort to enhance the customer experience, such as, the Box Office Naming Rights, and the TV and Radio Partnerships, that have directly elevated the event experience for our patrons.

The multi-facility campus is undergoing a $48 million renovation projected to be completed by May 2021.
