Kansas in top half of WalletHub nursing survey

The personal finance website WalletHub recently released its 2019’s Best & Worst States for Nurses.

“We look at everything,” said analyst Jill Gonzalez. “From laws regarding overtime, what the salary is starting out, to the competition, everything in between. Kansas is ranked in the top 20. It ranked at 16th best overall.”

WalletHub collected salary data for every type of nurse. Nurses, as a profession, have several concerns in 2019.

“Things like an aging U.S. population show more nurses are needed,” Gonzalez said. “Student loan crises are there for a lot of nurses along with concerns about the future of entitlement programs. Those are concerns from recent graduates in a lot of industries. Specific to nursing, a lot of day-to-day demands like mandatory overtime.”

The nursing industry is expected to grow at more than double the rate of the average occupation through 2026.
