Kansas Wheat Harvest Still Behind Schedule

For the week ending June 30, 2019, there were 5.9 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 0 percent very short, 5 short, 83 adequate, and 12 surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 0 percent very short, 3 short, 84 adequate, and 13 surplus.

Field Crops Report: Winter wheat condition rated 4 percent very poor, 12 poor, 29 fair, 41 good, and 14 excellent. Winter wheat coloring was 98 percent. Mature was 76 percent, behind 95 last year. Harvested was 28 percent, well behind 68 last year and 61 for the five-year average.

Corn condition rated 3 percent very poor, 10 poor, 35 fair, 44 good, and 8 excellent. Corn emerged was 97 percent, near 100 last year and 99 average. Silking was 8 percent, well behind 28 last year, and behind 22 average.

Soybean condition rated 3 percent very poor, 8 poor, 44 fair, 40 good, and 5 excellent. Soybeans planted was 91 percent,behind 99 last year, and near 95 average. Emerged was 82 percent, behind 96 last year and 88 average. Blooming was 1 percent, behind 18 last year and 8 average.

Sorghum condition rated 0 percent very poor, 3 poor, 29 fair, 62 good, and 6 excellent. Sorghum planted was 91 percent, behind 97 last year, and near 95 average. Headed was 3 percent, near 5 last year, and equal to average.
