Late Lead Slips Away as K-State Falls at TCU
The Kansas State Wildcats held a six point lead with three minutes to play but failed to score again and lost 63-62 at TCU on Saturday afternoon.
Max Jones’s three with 3:14 remaining put the Cats on top 62-56, but they came up empty on offense down the stretch, including a pair of missed one-and-ones at the free throw line. Noah Reynolds scored with 12 seconds left for the Horned Frogs to give them a one-point lead, and a Dug McDaniel layup missed on the other end with time expiring as the two teams fought for the rebound.
McDaniel’s 12 points led four Wildcats in double figures. David N’Guessan scored 10 points and hauled down a career-best 17 rebounds. Coleman Hawkins scored 11 points and Brendan Hausen added 10 in the losing effort.
The loss is the 12th consecutive road defeat for K-State, dating back to last season. It drops the Wildcats to 7-6 overall and 1-1 in Big 12 play. They return to action Tuesday night at Oklahoma State.
