MIAA Preseason Coaches and Media Poll Released

The 2018 MIAA football co-champions, Fort Hays State and Northwest Missouri, split the 2019 MIAA Football Coaches and Media Preseason polls. The Tigers were tabbed as the top team by the coaches and the Bearcats were voted in the top spot by the media.
The 2019 MIAA football season officially kicks off on Thursday, September 5. Similar to previous seasons, teams will play an 11 game conference schedule that concludes on Saturday, November 16. To see the complete schedule for the 2019 MIAA Football Season, click here.
Coaches Poll
In the coaches poll, FHSU earned 114 points and six first-place votes for the top spot. NW was edged out by just two points to finish second with five first-place votes. Pittsburg State had 97 points and received one first-place for the third spot. Central Oklahoma earned 90 points for fourth followed by Central Missouri in fifth with 80 points.
Emporia State was tabbed sixth as Missouri Western placed seventh and Washburn came in eighth. Nebraska Kearney was selected in the ninth spot with Missouri Southern in the 10th position and Northeastern State at 11th. Lincoln rounded out the final spot of the 2019 Coaches Preseason Poll.

Media Poll
The media voted Northwest Missouri in the top spot of their poll. The Bearcats earned 471 points and took 32 of the 40 first-place votes. Fort Hays State was slotted second behind NW with seven first-place votes and 433 points. Pittsburg State came in third with 378 points as Central Missouri finished with 336 points for fourth place. Central Oklahoma capped off the top-five with 313 points.
Emporia State took the sixth spot with Missouri Western and Washburn trailing them in the seventh and eighth spots respectively. Nebraska Kearney was ninth and Missouri Southern finished in tenth. The Lions also earned the remaining first-place vote for the media poll. Northeastern State was voted 11th as Lincoln closed out the poll in the final position.
