Police call in Lawrence possible swatting

An early Tuesday police call in Lawrence is being investigated as a possible swatting call.
According to a release from Lawrence police, officers were called around 1 a.m. that morning to the 2400 block of Cedarwood Avenue on what was reported as a domestic disturbance with weapons. A male called dispatch claiming to have shot his wife.
Officers who arrived found out there was a disagreement in an online video game chat room.
In response to the death of Andrew Finch in a Wichita swatting incident in 2017, the Kansas state legislature approved a bill in March 2018 to establish creating a false alarm resulting in injury or death as a class one felony.
