The flooding event is preparing to move to recovery in the John Redmond Reservoir area, provided the rain stays away.

The US Army Corps of Engineers is currently releasing just over 4500 cfs from JRR in Coffey County. This is to reduce the intensity of downstream flooding in Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Coffey and Woodson County authorities say to stay vigilant and pay close attention to the weather forecast. If a significant rain event should occur there could be a return to the recent flood water levels in a short amount of time.

Federal assistance at this time looks to be limited to Public Assistance dollars. PA provides financial assistance for the repair of roads and other government facilities.

Authorities are working with the Woodson County Solid Waste Department to place dumpsters in Neosho Falls to receive debris from flood damaged homes. When a firm date is set for those dumpsters to be placed, they will let media know.
