Storms leave behind damage, but not injuries Tuesday

Several tornadoes were on the ground in different parts of east-central and northeast Kansas on Tuesday.

In Geary County, a tornado touched down just before 5 p.m. north of Old 40 Highway at the county line staying south of Milford Lake and West of Junction City before crossing over onto Ft. Riley.

Geary County deputies said only minor tree damage was observed along with light shingle damage and the destruction of a small metal shed.

Storms then continued northeastward and Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse told WIBW-TV a home at 166 Road and R Road, near Mayetta, suffered significant damage and at least two more homes and a few barns were damaged.

Multiple tornadoes were reported north of Seneca in Nemaha County. One of them knocked down a power line onto Highway 36. That briefly closed the highway at P Road.

Dickinson County Emergency Management also reported five utility poles snapped southwest of Chapman, bringing down power lines before that storm crossed into Geary County.

No injuries were reported in any of the storms.
