A report of shots fired in Topeka ultimately resulted in three arrests Tuesday.

Police were called to the 700 block of NE Wabash just before 11:30 a.m. on a report that shots were fired out of a small blue passenger car that then fled the area.

A Topeka Police Officer was close by when the call went out and saw the suspect vehicle fleeing southbound down an alley. The officer radioed in his location and other officers were able to follow the car to the area of the 500 blk of NE Michigan in the east alley.

At that point, the officers were able to take the two adult male occupants from the passenger car into custody without incident and recover firearms from the vehicle.

The three people arrested were 43-year-old James Gillespie for Criminal Discharge of a Firearm, Possession of Stolen Property and Felon in Possession of a Firearm, 22-year-old Jaugger E. Thomas for Possession of Counterfeit Money, Possession of Stolen Property and Felon in Possession of a Firearm and 23-year-old Charles T. Higgins for Possession of Stolen Property.
