NEWS RELEASE FROM THE TPD

On Monday afternoon around 2:30 p.m., Topeka Police Officers were dispatched to the area of SE Fremont and SE Irvingham in reference a possible shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located a 16 year old female that was suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound.  Officers cared for the victim until an ambulance arrived, at which point the female was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

Initial reports from witness state the suspects may have fled the area in a gold or silver passenger car northbound.

This is a fluid and active case and the area is currently being held by officers. K9 units, Crime Scene Investigators and detectives are on scene.
