Topeka police officer bitten by dog; dog shot and killed Sunday

A Topeka police officer was bit by a dog that the officer then shot and killed Sunday.
The officer was responding to a domestic disturbance at 2405 SE Michigan. The dog charged out and bit the officer. The officer stepped back to try to get away and the dog charged again. The officer fired his gun several times and shot and killed the dog.
The officer was treated at the scene and then taken to a local hospital to be checked out.
