A Monday afternoon wreck in Jackson County claimed the life of a Topeka woman.

Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse said 72-year-old June Rockey was driving an SUV that crossed the highway eastbound from the entrance of a convenience store and was struck on the passenger’s side by a northbound pickup.

Rockey was taken to Stormont Vail in Topeka, where she died. She was not wearing a seatbelt.

The occupants of the pickup, both from Sanborn, Iowa, refused treatment at the scene.
