Lawrence Police arrested 17-year-old Topeka resident Benson J. Edwards Jr. and 17 year-old Topeka resident Sahavione K. Caraway in connection to the shooting that occurred Friday outside of the Holcom Park Recreation Center.

Both suspects were booked into the Juvenile Detention Center on aggravated robbery charges.  Both victims remain hospitalized as of early Saturday.  The 16-year-old victim is in stable condition and his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.  The 18-year-old victim remains in critical but stable condition at this time.

According to a release from Lawrence police, officers were called to 2700 West 27th Street to the Holcom Park Recreation Center at about 4 p.m. Friday in response to a reported shooting outside the recreation center.

An 18-year-old victim was critically wounded and a 16-year-old victim was in critical condition. Both were taken to area hospitals.

Witnesses gave police a description of a vehicle that may have suspects in it. A vehicle matching that description was located and the two people were detained for questioning. Police say they are not looking for any additional suspects.
