Wade Earns Big 12 Weekly Award

King McClure (Baylor) and Dean Wade (K-State) shared Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week while Marial Shayok (Iowa State) was named Newcomer of the Week. Wade was recognized for the second time in his career while Shayok picked up his second award of the season. King was honored for the first time.

McClure helped Baylor to wins at Oklahoma State and over No. 8/9 Texas Tech with 18.5 points and 7.5 rebounds. He posted a career-high 29 points on a career-best 7-of-11 3-pointers in a career-high 38 minutes at Oklahoma State. He became the first BU player to score 20+ points before halftime since Johnathan Motley had 20 vs. Michigan State on Nov. 24, 2016.

Wade averaged 18.0 points and 3.5 assists in wins at No. 19/20 Oklahoma and over TCU. One game back from missing six games due to injury, he posted just his second 20-point game of the season in the first win in Norman since 2015. He added 16 points in the win over the Horned Frogs, including dishing out a season-high six assists.

Shayok scored 20 points in each of Iowa State’s wins last week, an upset at No. 8/9 Texas Tech and a home win against Oklahoma State. Against Texas Tech, the senior scored 20 points on 6-of-13 shooting, including 3-of-6 3-point shooting. He followed that performance with 20 points against Oklahoma State, connecting on 4-of-8 three-pointers.
