Kansas basketball held the 35th annual Late Night in the Phog season tipoff event on Friday night, where one of the most popular traditions in recent years has become the opportunity for two students to win $10,000.

In two years of the last three years director of student-athlete development Brennan Bechard, a former Jayhawk, hit a half-court shit on behalf of a student to win them the prize. Both contestants this year also selected Bechard to take the shot for the money.

Bechard misses, however, coach Bill Self brought Jayhawks legend Sherron Collins on to the floor to give the two students one more chance at the cash.

They walked away happy.

In a night filled with excitement for Kansas basketball fans, a title-team hero making students some cash was one of the more raucous moments in Allen Fieldhouse.
