Wendy’s High School Athletes Of The Week – Week Of 3/4/19
Wendy’s and 580 WIBW are proud to celebrate standout achievements in prep sports in the city of Topeka by naming our Athletes of the Week each week.
This week, we recognize the state championship-winning Seaman boys bowling team, coached by Bob Benoit.
The Vikings rallied back from a deficit by being tops in the Baker format to claim their second 5A state title in three years, defeating Wichita Northwest by 18 pins to take the crown. Seaman bowled a team score of 818 in the Baker after falling behind by 65 pins after the first three games. The Vikings were led individually by senior Noah Belt, who placed seventh with a 605 series. Seniors Cody Mzhickteno and Koby Hoar also medaled. We spoke to head coach Bob Benoit about his team’s run to a state championship.
