580 Preps Recap – Games/Events of 9-10-19

Last night saw city teams in action on the course, on the pitch, and on the court. Here’s a recap of the available results from last night…

GIRLS GOLF

Chase Kell and Faith Bynum competed for Topeka West at the Salina Central Invitational, with Kell carding a 72 and Bynum an 81 in the nine-hole event.

GIRLS TENNIS

Hayden hosted an invitational, while Topeka High played host to Highland Park, Shawnee Heights, and Topeka West in a quad at Kossover.

BOYS SOCCER

Shawnee Heights routed De Soto 5-1 in United Kansas Conference league play, with Nathan Seelbach and Ethan Armbruster each bagging a pair of goals.

Hayden came back from an early deficit and took down Eudora, 4-1, with two goals on either side of halftime.

Junction City and Highland Park shared the honors at Hummer Sports Park, with the teams tying 1-1.

Jeron Poteete ran rampant over the Lansing Lions, scoring five goals as Seaman took home a 10-1 triumph. Titan Cina scored twice for the Vikings in the win.

In a tough non-conference game, Washburn Rural dropped a 3-2 decision at home to Olathe Northwest, with a penalty kick accounting for the winning goal for the Ravens

Ethan Payne scored early to give Topeka High the lead over Shawnee Mission West in their first game at the Blue Valley West tournament, but the Vikings scored the next three goals to win 3-1.

VOLLEYBALL

Highland Park hosted a Centennial League triangular with Junction City and Seaman involved. The Lady Vikes went 2-0 on the day, beating the Lady Scots 25-8, 25-13 and the Lady Jays 25-20, 25-9.

Topeka High also hosted a triangular, involving Olathe West and unbeaten Washburn Rural. The Lady Trojans fell to Olathe West in their first match.
