K-State and Kansas NCAA Tournament Schedules and Info

The NCAA tournament is here and both Kansas and Kansas State are hitting the road for their opening games.

The Big 12 got six teams in the dance. KU, K-State, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Baylor and Iowa State.

Kansas earned the four seed in the Midwest region and will play in Salt Lake City.  They will take on Northeastern in the first round.

The winner of the Jayhawks and Huskies will take on the winner of Auburn and New Mexico State. The Tigers and Aggies will tip off at 12:30 p.m.

Kansas will be playing the second game of the early session on Thursday in Salt Lake City. Tip time will be around 2:50 p.m. you can watch the game on TBS.

First thing that jumps out about Northeastern is they are a small team and shoot the three a ton.

KU has shot just over 700 three pointers this year, Northeastern has shot 820.

The Huskies play small and their top five leading scorers are guards. This will be a match-up that will be tough for David McCormack to get a ton of minutes.

Expect a four guard lineup for KU with Dedric in the post and maybe a mixture of Lightfoot as well.

The Huskies shot 38.8 percent from three this year and that is top 15 in the country and almost 40 % of their points come from the three.

Kansas is the opening line favorite by 8.5 points.

K-State earned the four seed in the South Region and will play in San Jose.

Kansas State will play at 1:00 p.m on Friday on TNT in the first game of the early session in San Jose.

The Wildcats will face the Anteaters of UC Irvine in the first round. The winner of the Cats and Anteaters will take on the winner of Wisconsin versus Oregon contest.

Bruce Weber said that doctors will look at Dean Wade’s foot tomorrow. Wade has been getting treatment on his foot three to four times a day since the Oklahoma game.

The UC Irvine Anteaters are a team that could pose an issue for the Cats. They are one of the best rebounding teams in the country.

UCI out rebounds their opponents by a 40-30 average and they also snag around 12 offensive boards per game.

The Anteaters have won 30 games this year and have rattled off 16 straight wins.

K-State is a small favorite against UCI, they are picked to win by 5.5 points.

Iowa State is a six seed and takes on Ohio state on Friday at 8:50 pm on CBS

Baylor, a nine seed, will face eight seed Syracuse on Thursday at 9:00 p.m. on Tru TV

Oklahoma, a nine seed, squares off against eight seed Mississippi on Friday at 11:40 a.m on Tru TV

Three seed Texas Tech will take on fourteen seed Northern Kentucky on Friday at 12:30 pm on TNT.
