Regional Basketball Brackets Released for Classes 2A-6A
Following the conclusion of regular season play on Friday night, the Kansas High School Activities Association has released the sub-state brackets for classes 2A through 6A.
Five teams from the capital city would have home-court advantage for a sub-state championship game. Unbeaten Topeka High is the #2 overall seed in the 6A West girls bracket, and the Washburn Rural boys, last year’s 6A state runners-up, are the #2 seed in the 6A west as well. In 5A, the Seaman Lady Vikes are the top seed in the 5A East bracket, while on the boys side, Highland Park and Topeka West are seeded third and fourth, respectively.
In ongoing 1A regional play, the Burlingame girls and Valley Falls boys are into the championship games in the Valley Falls regional, with those games set for Saturday night. The winners move on to a four-team sub-state.
Bracket play for sub-state begins with first round play in the 3A and 2A classes on Monday. 4A, 5A and 6A games begin on Tuesday, with sub-state title games played on Friday and Saturday. The state tournaments for boys and girls take place from March 11-14 at six different sites across Kansas.
