The Superintendent of Schools for Shawnee Heights USD 450 was arrested over the weekend and booked into jail for DUI.

WIBW TV-13 reports that the Kansas Highway Patrol received a 911 call around 8 p.m. Saturday reporting a reckless driver on I-70 near Rice Rd.

The caller followed the vehicle on K-4 to Highway 24, where they saw the driver make a U-turn on the highway.

A trooper found Martin Stessman parked on the side of the highway just inside Jefferson County at 8:25 p.m.

The trooper gave Stessman a field sobriety test. He failed and was arrested for DUI and booked into the Jefferson County jail. He posted $1000 bond and was released.

The Shawnee Heights School Board met about the issue over the weekend, but has yet to take action.

Stessman told the TV station that on the advice of his attorney, he will not be making a public statement until the legal process is concluded.
