Week Two 2019 Helmet Stickers

Two weeks are in the books in this high school football season, and we reward the best city performers from Week 2 with this week’s batch of helmet stickers…

-DA’VONSHAI HARDEN and KY THOMAS, Topeka High – If the Helmet Stickers had an office building, these two would have reserved parking spots out front. Week after week, they’re outstanding, and on Friday both made big plays as the Trojans snapped a three-game losing streak against Manhattan with a 32-27 win. Harden was 13-of-20 for 280 yards through the air, and Thomas rushed for 294 yards and four touchdowns, including two in the fourth quarter to lead the Trojans from behind for the victory.

-DESMOND PURNELL, Hayden – Purnell made it happen on offense and defense for the Wildcats in their 54-7 rout of Seaman. His pair of touchdowns came in the second half and served to put the game on ice. The first was a 52-yard pick six, and the second was an eight-yard run that highlighted his 10-carry, 66-yard performance on the ground.

-WILL DeVADER, Hayden – Produced a hat trick of touchdowns for the Wildcats with runs of four, three, and one yards, and was in the middle of their standout defensive performance, helping hold Seaman to 22 total yards on offense.

DAVION GARDENHIRE, Shawnee Heights – Showcased his blazing speed on a three-touchdown night, rushing for scores of 19, 5, and 35 yards and 113 total yards as the T-Birds routed Turner 40-0.

TIMIRANCE ADAMS, Shawnee Heights – The middle linebacker lived in the Golden Bears backfield, accumulating numerous tackles for loss and sparking their shutout victory.

TRE PROSPER, Highland Park – Their comeback attempt came up short in a 26-24 loss to Sumner Academy, but the junior quarterback nearly led the Scots back to victory, rushing for 81 yards and two touchdowns and throwing for 54 more yards.
