KWCA Rankings Heading Into Boys Regionals, Girls State

With girls wrestling regionals concluding last weekend and boys regionals ahead this weekend, it’s time to check in on the latest rankings from the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association.

Eighteen area wrestlers are ranked in the 6A rankings, and Washburn Rural (second) and Manhattan (eighth) are in the top ten as teams. Rural boasts eight ranked wrestlers, including the top ranked grappler at 195 pounds, Gavin Carter, and at 220, Andrew Davis. Shawnee Heights and Emporia each have two ranked wrestlers in 5A. Seven area wrestlers appear in the 4A rankings, with eighth-ranked Holton placing three in the top six in their respective weight classes and Santa Fe Trail claiming two ranked wrestlers. In the 3-2-1A rankings, Rossville is the fourth ranked team and has three ranked wrestlers, including Zach Archer, #1 at 113 pounds. Silver Lake’s Kai Allen is the top-ranked 132-pounder.

Washburn Rural’s girls, the East Regional champions last weekend, are the KWCA’s top-ranked girls team going into state, with four ranked grapplers, including Daija Anderson, who is #1 at 235 pounds. Thirteen total area girls appear in the rankings.
