Shawnee County Football Tour 2019 – Shawnee Heights Thunderbirds
Our eighth and penultimate stop on this year’s Shawnee County Football Tour takes us out to Tecumseh to check on the Shawnee County Thunderbirds.
LAST YEAR: In their first season in the United Kansas Conference, the T-Birds finished 2-3 in what ended up being a tough league and 4-4 in the regular season. They won their opening round playoff game over Blue Valley Southwest before falling in the 5A Regional round.
PLAYERS TO WATCH: Senior lineman Reid Holthaus was all-league on offense and defense and was first-team All-City on the offensive line. Junior quarterback Hunter Wohler contributed 15 touchdowns as the starter last season. And senior running back Davion Gardenhire, the 5A state champion in the 200 meters, is a blur.
